Visitors Enjoy Ferran Adrià New Exposition in Barcelona
Ferrán Adria has once again veered into new creative territory, with his new exhibit on elBulli that is currently on display at the Palau Robert in Barcelona.
Author: Adrienne Smith/©ICEX.
Entitled, Ferran Adrià & elBulli, 1961-2011, Risk, Freedom & Creativity, the exposition paints a retrospective look at the forty-year trajectory of this iconic Spanish restaurant though the archival materials that Adrià has been collecting and preserving over the years.
The purpose of saving and displaying this massive body of work is to help bring people closer to this form of cooking and peel back the shroud of secrecy that so many chefs who rely on (what many refer to as) molecular gastronomy seem to feel is necessary to maintain the veil of mystery that often surrounds this style of cooking.
After all, many of the techniques that are now used by the world’s most innovative chefs were originally created by Adrià, with the help of some of the 2,000-plus chefs that at one time or another made their way through his kitchens.
Once this fascinating exposition closes in Barcelona, its next stops will be New York, London and Sao Paulo in 2013.
