Production & Trade Regulations

Agri-Food Industry

The Spanish agri-food industry is subject to wide-ranging legislation that is not confined to issues relating to manufacturing and sales of food products, but also covers aspects such as labelling, packaging, storage, transport and hygiene. Producers must therefore adhere to rules concerning the quality of their products and regarding information and safety for consumers.

Labelling

The European Union has devoted wide-ranging legislation to protect consumer rights. One such measure concerns labelling, which in the case of agri-food products, must list the ingredients used and their nutritional properties, if applicable, in order to give prospective customers adequate information.
