In 1986 Joan and Josep Roca opened El Celler, beside Can Roca, their parents’ bar and restaurant. Experts in distillations, textures and iced drinks applied to signature cuisine. It can be considered one of the most advanced gourmet restaurants in Spain, where the Roca brothers are a perfect partnership: Joan in the kitchen, Pitu as sommelier in charge of a more than adequate cellar with wines from all over the world, and Josep in charge of desserts. In September 2007 they moved to a new location, near to the old one, to gain space in the kitchen and dining rooms. The move has not broken their ties to El Celler, where their mother cooks and where they go for breakfast, lunch and dinner almost every day. The new dining room retains the original triangular structure and is complemented by three gardens. It is perforated by a glass box that acts as a skylight.
