Type: La Rioja Cuisine, Tapas
With the clean lines of its wood-paneled interior, bright colors, calming open spaces and uniquely designed kitchen and dining areas that encourage interaction between diners and chefs, it is no surprise that Tondeluna has been awarded one of Spain’s top prizes for its interior architecture.
However, despite its excellent atmosphere, customers flock to Tondeluna for the wonderful food and drinks of this Logroño (La Rioja) gastrobar. It doesn’t hurt that it is the younger child of Michelin-star chef Francis Paniego (of famed restaurant El Portal de Echaurren) and his wife, Luisa Barrachina.
The focal point of the varied menu is on delicious, healthy, simple, innovative and seasonal cuisine based on the wide array of top quality area products. The dishes are designed to be shared, and reflect both traditional and avant-garde gastronomic flavors and cooking techniques. When not designed by Paniego himself, the dishes’ creator is indicated on the menu, which also points out that 90% of the menu is gluten-free.
The wine list consists of forty references, divided into whites, reds, rosés, dessert and sparkling wines. Although the selection is limited, the wines are rotated often and reflect the best selection from this renowned winemaking area.
