Arola Restaurant & Bar Mumbai

Sergi Arola

Type: Avant-Garde Cuisine, Spanish Cuisine

Top Spanish chef Sergio Arola (2 Michelin stars) launched in 2012 a new project far from home, this time in Mumbai. His gourmet venture, Arola Restaurant & Bar, officially opened for business at the JW Marriott Mumbai. This has been by far the city’s most anticipated gastronomic announcement in that year and Arola is set to be one of Mumbai’s most important restaurants as the “chic lifestyle destination [offers] guests the exclusive flavors of authentic Catalan cuisine.”

The JW Marriott Mumbai has been operational for the last decade and offers a combination of warm hospitality and contemporary luxury, not to mention some of the city’s most stellar dining experiences. According to the hotel’s general manager, Thomas Guss: “JW Marriott Mumbai has earned an iconic status over the years in Mumbai and has always been at the forefront of culinary excellence. We aim to continue providing an upscale dining experience that our guests have grown accustomed to. Superlative service in a lifestyle environment that is the hallmark of a memorable time and will make Arola Restaurant & Bar one of Mumbai's gastronomic landmarks."

Sergi Arola is considered a “bold culinary trendsetter” and a “definitive proponent of Spanish heritage [who] weaves stories of his homeland into his food.” The menu include a mix of the most popular dishes from his Arola restaurants worldwide and signature dishes created especially for Mumbai diners. These include Bravas de Arola (deep fried potatoes with a spicy tomato sauce and alioli), Sardinas (marinated sardines with herring roe, tomato and toasted bread), and Tomates Maduros (tomatoes with extra virgin olive oil, marinated tuna and black olives) and Gambas (prawns sautéed with garlic, chili and parsley). There is a wide selection of Spanish foods (Ibérico fresh meat, fish preserves, Idiazabal cheese, pimentón...) and wines from Spain in this restaurant. With Arola open for business, the Indian culinary scene will never be the same again.
