Restaurant and shop Zorita’s Kitchen is located in the heart of London, right on the banks of the River Thames, and offers delicious Spanish fare with stunning views of the city’s most emblematic sights, including the Millennium Bridge and Shakespeare’s Globe.
And while the view is spectacular, so is the food. Specializing in Spanish wine and organic food (sourced from the owners’ all-natural farm, Durius, in Castile-Leon, northwest Spain), Zorita’s serves a wide selection of Ibérico products, including acorn-fed ham, loin, salchichón and chorizo, and award-winning cheeses, such as Torta de Dehesa, among others. Ham and cheese are given pride of place and both are of the highest quality. Tostas are an integral part of the menu, and consist of open-faced sandwiches prepared with extra virgin olive oil, tomato and garlic, and diners select their ham and cheese to top it. The menu includes other Spanish favorites, such as Galician-style octopus, Spanish omelet, and Asturian fabada (a bean-based dish). There is a clear focus on products from Spain’s Duero River region, as many of the special ingredients are sourced there. Moreover, the ingredients used at Zorita’s are personally endorsed by Spanish chef Sergi Arola.
The top-notch wine list is extensive and features a range of cavas, whites, rosés and reds. According to a review, “wine lovers will be pleased to see that a chunk of the dining room is given over to hundreds of Spanish wines.” Not a bad selection to accompany your ham and cheese. The wines on offer include Marqués de la Concordia Family of Wines, Andalus Petit Verdot, Antario Barolo and Antario Gavi, to name only a few.
Zorita’s does more than just serve Spanish food and wine, on-site or to go. It also organizes tasting sessions with a selection of its wines and organic produce, publishes monthly recommendations for shoppers, and partners with Haciendas de España to offer wine and gastronomy tourism trips in Spain.
