Whether one visits the café and delicatessen store to pick up the ingredients for a fantastic home dinner, purchase prepared meals as paella or fabada, or enjoy creative bocatas (Spanish-style sandwiches), tortillas (omelettes) or tapas, customers will find Olé! Spain Delishop full of Spanish delicacies.
Olé! Spain Delishop is a new gourmet store in Santa Ana, California, where the enthusiasm for Spanish cuisine is effervescent. The family business was launched by two sisters and their husbands, who had an academic background in hotel and restaurant administration, and a prior restaurant experience in México, from where they moved to California two years ago.
“Our decision to open the store was a mix of ideas. There is a lot of Spanish influence in the cuisine of México, where one can find really good Spanish charcuterie and cheeses much more easily than in the States. My sister Sarah and I have traveled to Spain, and as part of my university studies I went to Barcelona, where I took a culinary course that helped me learn some recipes. Additionally, we found a great supplier in California, and when making our business marketing research, we realized that there weren’t places like this in Orange County. This is how Olé! Spain Delishop was born,” details Nayeli Bañuelos to www.foodsfromspain.com.
Olé! Spain Delishop sells a unique broad selection of Spanish products, where one can find hams, cheeses, canned seafood, olive oils, vinegars, saffron, pimentón, table olives, and other products from an array of brands as Redondo Iglesias, Palacios, Embutidos Fermín, Rocinante, Albo, Oleoestepa, Salazones Romero, Carmencita, Cola-Cao and many others. Additionally, they purchase items from La Española Meats, a US producer of Spanish charcuterie. The store plans to expand its Spanish food portfolio and also add a Spanish wine and beer selection.
For those who prefer enjoying their Spanish foods without the hassle of getting inside the kitchen, there is a choice of bocatas, omelettes, and tapas to be enjoyed on site.
“We have a small but delicious tapas selection, two exquisite tortilla de patatas, and some bocadillos. “La Española” is one of our most popular bocatas and is made with Serrano ham, chorizo sausage, and Manchego cheese. With our “Enamórame Tortilla” we wanted to give a personal touch to the great classical Spanish omelette, by adding cream cheese, butifarra, black olives and piquillo peppers. The “Tapas Andaluza” are toasted pieces of bread spreaded with pesto sauce, fresh tomato and Manchego. The pasta made with tomato sauce and chorizo, and the flan (custard) are great family recipes. Our paella is coming really soon,” added Bañuelos.
